Castrol Edge

Looking at using this oil, but I don't know for sure what people have said about it.

Can anyone point me the way to actual people useage (likes and dislikes)?

Been waiting for the next oil change to come due so I can switch from Syntec to Edge but I've not seen any comments one way or the other anywhere.

I've heard the Mobil 1 has tried to sue Castrol Edge for it's claim of 8X the protection of Mobil 1.

But nothing else about Edge

Some of the owners in the various Corvette forums have tried it. You might want to visit those and do a search.......although, I think it may be a little early for subjective analysis of that oil. It's only been available for a month or two.

Guess I'm different - my feeling is that unless you're driving at Indy or on the drag strip, the average oil is going to do just fine in our 2.2 or 2.4s. I think more important than the oil is proper change times. I do have strong feelings against using oil out of 55 gallon drums. Who knows where that came from?
However, I personally have switched to synthetic oils just for some better protection. It would seem to me that if the price is reasonable, why not go with the Castrol? If it's $10 bucks a quart, I just can't see spending the bucks.

Walmart has it for $19 something for 5 quart jug. That is what we got, had them change it for $20. So we will see if it was worth it.

Switched from Mobil 1, and wasn't really impressed with it. Got about 78 miles per percent on the oil monitor, conventional oil was like 72 miles or so.

The DIC cannot tell the difference between dino oil and syn oil...I believe the DIC bases info on heat and time cycles..so for syn oils maybe you need to do some mental calculations..and not on percents of percents.Or, if you reaLLY WANNA KNOW.. have it sent out for oil anylasis.....

I just put that in my car on friday. works great. by the way, advance auto has a special right now on it. 5 quarts plus a puralator filter for 24.99, which I think is a great deal. Only reason I know is my fiance works there and that's where I got mine. I'm pretty sure it runs til the end of the month.

Paying less than $26 per 5 quart container is a really good deal for CASTROL EDGE in 5w-30. About a month ago it was $36 per. Local Wal Mart, today, had it for the $26 mentioned above.

I have not been a fan of Castrol since they downgraded their Syntec formula to a group III base stock and still called it a "full synthetic"

For information on oil, save yourself a lot time and bad information and go to www.bobistheoilguy.com
