Then change it when you think you should, there is no lower limit. The manual is mainly economics. "ECOTech"

You ask the question, state the published answer, then challenge it yourself. There has got to be some latin phrase for that construction of debate.

The phrase you're looking for Don is "res ipsa loquitur"- "the thing speaks for itself", or more loosely translated, "the question speaks for itself".

I agree with the above. But access to the filter in the HHR is overly complicated. I've had other cars where it was open hood, undo 3 or 4 clips and you had access to the filter. 5 seconds, no tools...

Not complaining, just saying.

I had to go out to the shop and make the "mechanic" at the tire store stop destroying my car. He was really getting aggressive to do the "required" check, he was really upset when I told him I had changed it the day before.

x2
I have to do it 2 - 3 times a year ( too much dust on local roads ) .
This damn "black box" makes me sad . Disassemble to make sure that the filter is dead. Then reverse assembly - to ride for a while , until the filter come to me through the post. Next new disassembly / assembly to install a new filter. Whole saga !
GM is trying to complicate this task to the limit. 7 bolts , each with a six "star" instead of the usual cross for screwdriver . I had to buy a special device .
In addition, detach this black coffin to get to these bolts . Hands in the dust , in the remnants of oil. Br -r-r !
Every time I carry this stuff in the home , my wife hysterical.
I was thinking about how to get one of those gizmos with filter of zero resistance . But they unjustifiably expensive .

Yes, but they usually disappear, usually due to frustrated owners like me.

It is actually a rubber grommet exactly the same as the other 2 on the back side.

Unless it makes noise you can't live with or a hole don't worry about it.

And, welcome!
