Gear shift knob

I noticed the shift knob on my 2006 HHR 2LT is a bit worn along the upper right edge next to the chrome insert. The only online replacement (with the chrome ) is listed at over $170...Anyone have luck using some sort of glue or sealant ?? Not much in the way of parts yards nearby, and then it is pretty much a crapshoot if they have one there, you have to wander thru and look.

just take it off and see if it is possible to disassemble this part.
If it comes apart, then just retighten the handle using a piece of leather. A good occasion for creative self-expression.
