Was it mentioned to replace the o ring on the filter cap? It is supposed to come with the filter, but not all filters have one....

I always open the filter box at the auto parts to check. If it is missing, they will get one for me..

Just sayin'

Glad it helped you out. I just picked up everything to do mine again....

In 6 years and 84K miles, I've never changed that O-ring. I look it over and it still doesn't look dry, cracked, or damaged in any shape or form and I don't have any leaks. I'll replace it when it needs to be replaced. But for now the factory one is holding up perfectly.

I got the diy oil change "kit" from Pep Boys and changed my oil today. Had to use the axle wrench from my motorcycle kit for the filter as my deep socket wouldn't work. Guess i need to add a regular socket to the tool box for this. The filter came with the ring so I put it on, didn't even see an old one.

Auto parts has a store brand 'shorty' 32mm socket for this. In case your reg socket won't fit.

i just did mine today. u can get the kobalt 32mm 12 pt socket for a 1/2" drive from loews. it fits perfectly, of course with the extension. and it only costs about $6.00.

at first looked at sears sure they only wanted $9.20 but then like $8 to ship it. it isnt stocked at the store. then i went to advance auto an bought the 32 mm kds oil wrench from advance auto for $14. i just happened to look at loews right after and then i saw this and it worked. so the advance tool was returned!!

oh and my ac delco filter was unopened and did not have the o-ring in there.

I have looked at the AC Delco filters in Walmart and several different auto parts stores. None had the o-ring in the box. And yes, I did look in all the boxes they had on the shelf.
Since AC Delco changes suppliers every so often, I will see different countries of origin listed on the filter also.

Parts guy at my local Advance Auto, says Purolator always have the O-ring.

So he has removed one or two for me for my AC-Delco filters.
