Well since both Oldblue and Mike think that it sounds pretty normal I'll leave it. At this time no adverse effects of The noise and no power loss. This car has been a sort of learning platform for mechanical things for me. I know given Greg's age and mechanical nature he won't be as silent as a tesla but I am just learning about all these interesting noises!

I noticed the noise for the first time a few weeks ago in the drive through at some place. The builing is concrete so The noise was accentuated as it was bouncing off the wall back at me. Of course it's much louder with the hood up or if the sound has something to bounce off. Standing 15 feet away you can barely tell it's running.

Great to have you back on the forums, Mike!
Mark that "Bit 'O Dumb" down to what's called Chemo Brain, in the process of trying to cure you...the Oncologists fry your brain.

Sorry gang.

P.S. Thanks Buddy!

No trouble Chemo-soby! We knew what y'all meant! The right front is still on your left if your standing in front of the HHR! Right, er, correct!

Aw heck Oldblue, I still can't remember where I was off to the other morning when I had a flat.

I'm not digging the bouts of "Dumb", frankly they scare the crap outta me.

I'm trying Buddy, I really am.

Back to O.T.

I cranked up the '06 with well over 400K on the clock, and it doesn't sound any different than the video clip.

But a "Timing Set" and tensioner upgrade should be planned for around 200,000 to 250,000 miles as Preventative Maintenance.

GM's idea of a "lifetime" set of engine components doesn't quite gibe with the real world of HHR's going well into the hundreds of thousands of miles.

Yellow Cabs of Charlotte has a half dozen HHRs in their fleet all with well over 500,000 miles and counting. They have them on the Airport Route, so they trust them not to crap out.

I'm at 226,000 miles and that's why I'm changing the TC and guides!
The best defence is a great offence. I have determined you get what you pay for! I'll post when I receive the rest of my parts order!

Thank you Mike for easing my mind. Keep up the good find the ends justify the means and that is an understatement in this case! Oh and Oldblue and Gregg should do a mini photo session!
