Oil Filter Country of Manufacture

Thought we could compile data on where our oil filters are made. Just changed the oil.

Old filter - NAPA Proselect - made in Poland

New Filter - NAPA Gold - made in (ugh) China

I'll look for Delco next time.

You will probably find the same filters, AC Delco for example, made in several different countries.

So in my thinking trying to compile a list is a waste of time.

Since I'm from the purchasing end of THE automotive manufacturer, I will tell you, for the most part, cheapest bidder wins as long as they can meet spec.

Oh and I just remembered....I believe we discussed the fact previously and found at least 4 manufacturers for the Ac Delco.

The country of origin on anything is a bit of a crapshoot these days, but that being said, I only use AC Delco filters and I've had zero issues.

Call me old fashioned, or just old, but I still live by the mantra of "Keep your GM car all GM".

Why would anyone care? Is this a race thing?
Would you want ball bearings made in USA?

What issues do oil filters present?

I have always used The cheapest filter available, never had an issue. I guess my "brand" is best.

I'm just full of questions this morning, aren't I?

Why does being made in China generate an "ugh" (by that same thought process Poland doesn't?)? Especially on a vehicle that was assembled in Mexico, with an engine who's design originated in Germany, etc. It's a 'global' vehicle made up of parts from all around the world. Like most 'American' cars.......

Not only that - but the electronics you are using to communicate were likely manufactured in China.

Donbrew, you're right. These filters are very basic, just filtration media and a plastic skeleton. They probably are all pretty much the same.

But maybe someone makes them here in the USA. At least give us a chance on the crapshoot.

I understand finances can pretty much force us to buy Chinese goods sometimes, but if you can get the same product from the USA, or at least a friendly country, for about the same price, why wouldn't you?

You all are usually very helpful, why now discourage the members here from sharing this information?

Anybody who wants to share, who wants to learn what your choices are, please feel free to chime in.
