Finally done!

I finally replaced the thermostat this morning.
I almost had given up doing it myself cuz I just couldn’t see how I could get to that be of the housing bolts.
I kept on thinking “how can I turn (relocate) the clam which was in the way….” then all of the sudden, it occurred to me that I can just pull the hose (and clamp) off the housing!!! Duh!!!

it still was a pain in the ass but I’m happy that I got it done, since I had already bought the “expensive” AC delco thermostat 2 months ago!!

the thermostat that was in there was NOT original but 180F unit…. The weird thing is that with the AC delco unit, coolant temp is about 5F cooler.
i guess not all the thermostats are the same…. Although they all are still rated at 180F….

By the way, I did purchase and used a special tool for the spring clamps. 😊

Awesome you got it done! I’ve wondered about replacing my radiator with the larger ZZP aluminium unit, but my OEM isn’t leaking, so I’m leaving it alone, I did replace the plastic filler neck with an aluminium filler neck.
much easier to check coolant level

Where did you find the aluminum filler neck?
Mine is still in good shape but when it needs to be replaced, I’d love to have the aluminum one!
