That is pretty interesting about the cell phone.. I would never have associated that with FOB interference..

The Vette has push button start....the FOB MUST be located within 24 inches of that button for the car to start. Pushing the button activates, by RF, a system that checks for the FOB, determines if it is the correct FOB and signals the computer to provide the commands. All this occurs in a millisecond, of course. The wife's Cadillac is the same system.

I don't remember anything in the HHR Owners Manual regarding this. It is a different mechanical start method needing a key. The Vette is ALL electronic and everything (doors, trunk, windows, start, etc) are dependent on the FOB being in driver's possession.

Thanks for the info... When I get a newer Vette, I'll be cautious with the cell phone & fob.. My 1979 Vette had nothing like that.

I knew some B'mers were push button start, but didn't know about Caddy & Vette.

Course when I was a young lad our 1948 Ford F-1 had key & then push button...

Too fancy for HHR, guess I don't need to re-read it afterall.. (I probably anyway)..

 

Batteries are one of those things that are different from one vehicle to the next. There are not too many factories that make batteries as most are just lables for different places. Too many varibles out there than can make a battery last or not.

 

I have a 2006 with 89388 miles and live in palm springs ca. ,with the original battery still in it after 7 yrs. mechanic said I should change it , not broken why fix it. Love my HHR

 

What is the resting voltage of the battery?

 

2 hhrs....07 and 08....original batt....over 60k each....no sign of letting up.knn n wife hadan 02 sunfire that lasted 7 years...factory usually gets 5_6 years and replacements 3-4''

 

At 2:00 A.M. (right after closing time, everybody else already left) in the middle of the desert you will be saying "Dammit, I shoulda listened".
