To echo sleeper here Kev, make sure the rears are adjusted up right, they can get out of whack and leave the fronts doing all the work. Its a good idea when doing any brake work to pull the drums and check everything out, then snug up the adjusters so the rear brakes are doing their share.

P.S. No issues with the NAPA brakes on either Paddy or the Spousemobile and they get driven hard.

The first step to learn on the front brakes it to learn they are not warped.

Odds are it is either Rotor Thickness Variation do to uneven wear because of a bad hub bearing. Or it is pad material stuck to the rotor due to poor seating of the pads or low quality pads and hot rotors.

Since I started to seat or bed the pads in properly and using higher quality pads I don't have the pulse issue with brakes anymore.

The first step to learn what causes the issues on brakes today is to read the tech sections on brake web sites like Bendix and others to learn what is going on. To much old info or poor info is still out there that may have applied in the past or is just misunderstood today. Brakes are not the same anymore and need to be treated differently in some ways.

I must be a non user of brakes. I have 81,800 miles on my '06 HHR still with the original brakes and 50% left on them.

Well, I am going to do preventative maintenance and get better rotors and pads, since I can feel the same as I was before, and it's been 5 months since the brakes have been done..

Can anyone tell me what the cost of a full set would be on the front? Rotors, Pads. I cant seem to find a way to get prices..

One would think your pads and rotors should last more than 5 months, regardless of how you're driving. 5 months is not long at all, unless you were towing a 10,000 pound trailer all the time or something. Or maybe some police-style reckless driving?
