If you run the lid lift with the stock filter intead of a K&N, you might have less chance of throwing CELs until you get tuned.

What is happening is that it is skewing the long term fuel trims to add fuel to prevent that lean spot and using the short term trims to take away fuel in the areas that are not running lean due to the change. Learn down just refers to the car using torque targets. The increased air/fuel in the spot where it threw a CEL would result in more power except the computer dials the torque back to meet the existing target. That said, you are probably right, the lid lift may be a small enough change that the adjustment the car made will keep the AFR within nominal values and prevent a CEL. Maybe.
