Turbo or non-turbo? A non-turbo will sound louder and rougher, probably producing a pop on decel some of the time. A turbo will just be a bit louder. The turbo itself muffles the raw noise from the motor. In both cases, cats muffle the rough edges of the sound as well. My last car (non-turbo Saabaru) had a straight pipe from the head to to the rear bumper with only a resonator and a Magnaflow (see-through) muffler on it. It was loud and did all of that popping and rumbling stuff...

capp,

The resinator IS a straight through. The ONLY gain will be noise. But if that's what you want....

It'll just get a bit louder, there are some debatable horsepower gains to be had with a performance exhaust system, but we're talking a handful of ponies at best. Removing the resonator will not give you any more performance other than psychological, if it sounds faster...you mind will think it is faster.
