I did the same as Doc just left them on and painted over top.

Nrvous, you could leave it off, but it won't look as finished.

Ahh..yeah you're right, it might not look as good without anything there. I may still remove it because I do want to paint it to match, but if I like the look I may just leave it off.

We'll I just removed the rear bowtie and I didn't realize there were two small holes where the backside of the bowtie attaches to the beauty bar. So, I guess I won't be leaving it off and just put it back on until I get all the supplies ready to paint it.

I really like the look of the bowtie removed, but it does look unfinished as Tyler Harvey suggested. Here's a quick pic of what it looks like right now and I know I need to clean it up a lot more. :)

Any suggestions besides painting the bowtie and reinstalling it? I was thinking of getting a white vinyl botwie made an sticking it on there. Or getting molding pins and painting those white and civering up the holes, but I think that may look cheap/cheesy. Is painting the original bowtie white my only option?

On a side not, here is a pic of my new to me HHR.

Just painted 4 of them black, planning on sticking them back on with the red 3m tape and heat.

Looking good. I broke down and I'm just going to paint them white. Going 600 grit for prep then 3 coats of white krylon fusion then a damp sanding with 1000 then 3 coats of clear.
