Common bowtie issues?
My Cheby is a 2010 and its kinda sad that the emblems are doin this already...
The front is worse. It appears that the clear part is separating from the gold. Is it possible to pull the clear off, and peel the gold out. I was goin to paint this anyways and I have some kick ass emblem/trim adhesive I'll reattach this with.

It happens especially in the hotter states, I've replaced the Bow-Ties on both my 2006 and 2007 when they started to fade and delaminate.
You can't really peel the gold foil out, so its a case of replace them with new ones from Chevy, cover them with a vinyl overlay, or do something custom.
Its not just the HHR's that suffer from this, I've already seen a 2011 Cruze in a parking lot with the emblem on the nose starting to go goofy.

LMAO! The front has some boogers floating in it just like a lava lamp. Will that gold peel up if I just pull them and re glue them, or will it hold on top of the gold? I don't wanna lose one goin down the road because the gold got jealous and booted them off El Cheby

I don't know about the hotter states thing. I live in San Bernardino, Ca. where it tops 100° in the summer and the emblems on our 06, which we've had since new, are fine. I think it's just inconsistent quality control.

Much of the gold will peel off, some will stick to the base, some to the emblem. When you clean that all up before re-gluing most will be gone and give you enough surface that you shouldn't lose one. You don't have to worry about removing all of it..... and it's actually silver, the "gold" is the emblem itself actually being "amber" colored.

Sweet, thanks Greybeard. It does get pretty hot here in Texas. Most of this last summer we were well over 100 degrees. Winters are pretty cold too. This car is originally from the Tulsa area. Maybe the chemicals they put on the roads messed with it, I'm not sure. I love challenges like this. They give me a reason to give it my own little personal touches.

Painting them is definitely the way to go.
Having said that, you'd think GM would realize that this is a problem and would alter the bowtie design accordingly. Not everyone is an enthusaist and wants to deal with the hassle of painting their bowties due to the manufacturer's faulty design.
