Since its off I’d probably wash it in a good solvent or maybe strong dish soap and hot water. Once its nice and dry lay it on some news paper and get your rattle can of your favorite color paint and go to it.

Since someone else seems to like the plastic insert for bowties around here I just used a can of high brightness ‘Safety Yellow’ semi reflective rust o’ileum paint on mine.

I have my doubts that anyone will manage to steal the paint now but they may take the whole bowtie.

If I could I’d post a picture but I’m having problems getting my camera to interface with the computer.

Greybeard -- Yes, I am having major fitment issues with the billet insert from ebay! It appears the bracket that holds the plastic emblem has to be removed -- the details did not state that. I am likely just going to paint mine and send this back.

that is the one thing that is irritating, my bowties look bad both front and back. Think I will do the billet or maybe just do a new grill as well.

Sorry to hear that, not that it will make you feel better but from what I've read, you're not the only one. Maybe other's will see this before they buy and save their time/money and go a different route.

The painting is really not that big a deal and can have very professional results from a rattle can. Prep is essential and take your time, people will ask where you bought it or had it done.

I used the red for the rear bowtie and since they didn't have orange I found it online at TapeBrothers. Just cut it to width and center it on the bow. The tape won't completely reach the edges, top to bottom. That will give you the dimension for the rest of the "border". Make sure you put that visible (in the pic)"seam" that's on the tape right in the middle of the bow. If you don't it will show up under reflection off center. And I know you don't want that! (the orange tape from TapeBrothers was a continuous length and didn't have a seam) Then just trim off the rest with a razor or exacto knife. Using a straight edge is a good idea! I left an even 'border' of the gold all the way around. BadaBing BadaBoom!

I just received and black powder-coated aluminum front/rear emblems from trucknvans, and now I've just learned that they might not fit properly! Arrrrgh! Well, whether I try to attach them or just paint the existing delaminated ones, I'll need to remove them.
How do you take the original front / rear emblems off?
John
