As I said, it gets Darker the more purple coats you spray on, starts out Alot lighter, I wanted it Dark so I used like 9 coats.

It's sorta like the old school "Candy" color paints with a silver or gold base coat, depending on how the sunlight is hitting it, it looks lighter or darker. The more coats you use the color changes gets darker.

After your base coat is down try two light even coats, see how you like it, add more until desired color is achieved. (Keep track of number of coats you use, and give them all the same.)

Go to an auto paint supply store near you, places that supply the local Body Shops, get some automotive wax and grease remover, 3M scuff pads, 3/4" and 2" automotive Tape.

There are different color 3M scuff pads ask the guy at the supply store which is best for your wheels project, only need a couple, don't buy a whole box.

Liberally use the wax and grease remover, then do it again, and maybe even a third time on steel wheels.

Now take your time and Scuff Scuff Scuff get down into the little tight areas scuff the face of the wheel thats shows, just mask off the Inside of the wheels so they stay black.

After scuffing blow them all off (hopefully you got or know someone with a decent air compressor) then wipe once again with the wax and grease remover, now mask off the wheels from the back side over the holes or the spoke openings on your steel wheels.

There are two different steel wheels used on the HHR's one with small round holes and one that have 5 spokes with large openings, you just want to keep overspray from getting through. Oh get a can of Primer, while Scuffing those steel wheels you'll likely scuff through to bare metal in some spots, hit all bare metal with 2 light coats of Primer, let it Dry, then just lightly scuff it, dont scuff to hard or you'll be priming it again.

Once you got the back sides all masked off, start masking the front. the Tire of course, and the inflator valve.

Have fun, if you need any more help or have questions just ask.

I can make you one if you really want one. Not exact, but close enough.
