Interior light kits?
#21
I've got it working. Here are some pictures. The Fading of the LEDs works. However they don't fade as much or as soon as the halogens. Looking back I kind of wish I played around with the module that came attached to the lights. I doubt there was anything wrong with it. Simply wasn't getting power.
the two wires connected to the domes are both hot when when the door is closed and the lights are off. When the door is opened one of the wires turns to negative.
That orange illuminated switch is pretty cool man. Probably cooler than the lights.

What were they thinking when they decided not to put a dome light in many of the Hrs?
I pulled a used dome light out of the junkyard and will tackle that project once my car is running well.
I picked up a little LED battery operated light from Wal-Mart. I painted the light to match the interior instead of having a white light standing out like a sore thumb. I mounted it next to my sunroof switched. It works wonderfully for I think around $4. 🙌
Shines bright at night!
This is where I mounted it.

I know its an old thread that has been bumped over the years, but I tapped into the interior light wires in the passenger side interior fuse box. Its a pink and blue wire I believe. I can't find the pics on my phone.
I added 2 small 12v light strips and connected both directly off of those wires. It's been good for a few months now. The wires coming from the strips are very thin. They do not require a lot of power. I believe I posted pics in another thread of the wires I used. But you can message me or reply here if you're interested in my showing the exact wires used.
