Looking for information on interior lighting
Hello there. I've been looking for something related to this in the threads. Maybe I'm not plugging in the best keywords but essentially I'm looking for information on how to improve the lighting inside my car, specifically the front seats (driver and shotgun). There is great lighting for the back passengers right above them...the big panel there with three lighting options. And my car does have the lighting under the rearview mirror, but there is no lighting for the pull-down mirrors, and the LED light illuminates barely anything at night. Are there any devices, installation, modifications, products you can recommend. First thing that came to mind is like a rechargeable battery powered light that can be gripped to one of those pull-down mirrors. Any suggestions? My main goal is to improve the lighting for the driver and shotgun passenger so as to be able to read while parked in the dark.

The seach term that will produce the most hits on our Customized Google-Linked search engine is "mood lights", which is what that LED has been called since about Day 1 here.
Here's one thread on modifying it....

It's a standard 5mm LED, so you could replace it with a high intensity LED as an experiment, but it could be too bright.
Visors with lighted "Vanity Mirrors" could be removed from a salvage yard Caddy etc. Then you could tap into the mirror's harness for the 12V power.
It depends on how much you'd like to pull the front of the headliner down, it's doable, but they are a bit fragile.
