Steering wheel 'overhaul'

Today I am going to undergo the 'overhaul' of my steering wheel. The silver plastic accents are going to be repainted and I'm going to repaint the center emblem....all 3 are a little scratched up. Now, before I begin, what are the chances of the airbag punching me in the face if I disconnect the battery and wait 5 mins or so before removing it?
I'll be posting before and after pics :)

you don't even need to disconnect the battery...I swapped wheels in mine with no problems...unplugged the airbag and all

the nice thing about disconnecting the battery is that you won't honk the horn while trying to remove it
