I thought I would revive my ancient thread to report that my insurance company has finally settled the bill for my repairs. In case anyone cares the final bill came to just under $13,000 with 0% liability on my behalf (but that was never really in question.)

Wow .
$13,000, that seems a little excessive.
I'm sure you could buy a used one for that amount of money.

i am guessing maybe that is 13k CAD? Although with today's exchange rate it is still around $11,300.

Maybe repairs cost a lot lot more up in Canada?

The repair took almost two months and I was in a rental the entire time (a Malibu for a week, a Silverado for about 3 weeks and an Impala for about 2 weeks.)

Part of the reason it took so long for the repair is that body shops in my area are always very busy. They also had a fairly long wait for new doors.

I'm not too sure what took the insurance company so long to settle the claim but again that is not uncommon. In a previous accident many years ago it took almost a year and half before we had a settlement letter and we had switced insurance companies before the claim was even settled.

Yes, the amount paid out is in Canadian dollars and repairs are much more expensive in Canada. I think the charge out rate for a body shop is around $150. Parts are extremely expensive as well (probably about 1.5 times the cost in the US.) I had once gotten an estimate to have my hood repainted to repair the stone chips and they wanted about $900 just to spray the hood.
