check your local library, i have taking photo courses when i was in school and everything else but i checked it out from our library as well just to see what else might be in it.

If they don't have it request that they buy it. You can do that right online here, and they have bought several items i suggested.

Eric has been posting some good stuff. If you are going the Amazon route and purchasing, then check out his companion book "Learning to see Creatively", which deals with composition. I bought these together to get me into the free shipping zone plus a % discount. These 2 books are the most recommended in DPReviews forums when somebody new is looking for books on the basics.

I'm using a Olympus FE-360. I've had it for about a month and let my wife take it to a friend's wedding shower. When she comes back with it, she forgot the battery charger. Went back to the church to look for it and it was nowhere to be found... So now I get to buy another battery charger lol

After using the Canon XSi camera for a few days, I was really unhappy with it. Although the pictures were fantastic, the live view settings were not to my liking. I returned it to where I bought it (Target), and went to a real camera shop (Ritz) and bought a Nikon D5000. I'll give it a few days use before deciding if this is the one to keep.

From looking at it, I would think you should be pretty happy with the D5000. That's what Chris was using this weekend, and it looked fantastic!
