Do you really think that plasti dip is rice?

 

The "acting" definition for 'rice' (as I know it anyway) is radically immature car enthusiast. Try to improve the appearance of your vehicle to satisfy his or her own taste wouldn't qualify as immature. To each his own Rod Run.

 

Adding things that make your car look like it will go fast is what I think of, in no way would changing the color make it a ricer. Please explain your definition Rod Run.

 

Some people just like to rain on people's parades. There is nothing rice about plasti-dip. Rice would be a $40 Chrome muffler from autozone that sounds like a gang of angry hornets, or those stick on decals/badges that people put on vehicles they don't belong on...like Type R on a base model civic, or SS on an RS. Stick on cheap crap from autozone or pep boys and yes...you qualify as rice. Looking to pimp your ride with light up exhaust tips, windshield washer nozzle's, and the like...that's ricer.

Just because someone isn't forking out big bucks for a "show quality" finish doesn't justify someone to say they need to check their financial situation. Not everyone wants their vehicle to be a high maintenance attention grabber.

Just my .02 cents...but if you like it, do it. At least if you don't like it, you can always revert it back to stock. No one else's opinion really matters about your vehicle but your own.

Mods are a matter of personal taste, and this Plasti-Dip stuff seems to be a harmless way of tinkering around with ideas before committing them to "permanence" with a paint gun.

Its a free country, and you can do whatever you wish with your HHR.

 

I'm learning to ignore the tools...or might I say tool on this forum. Some people think their crap don't stink and if you do anything that isn't by their book, they will let you know how wrong it is. I've learnt in the many years of customizing rides that you have to do what you like...not what everyone else likes. Lets face it, there's not a lot of aftermarket parts for our wagons and unless you have some fabricating skills which I'd guarantee, most of of us do not, you have to get creative. Plasti Dip lets us with limited skills paint our wheels, our body parts, etc. without putting down hundreds of dollars toward custom paint jobs or powder coating. The stuff I've done with with plasti dip I've gotten nothing but compliments on. People rub it and love the texture it adds...almost like using vinyl. In some instances I think that plasti dip serves a better purpose then paint...ie, mirror caps and wheels. With wheels if you decide you don't want the black, gold, silver plasti dip...you can remove it and you have your old original wheels back...unharmed. If you powder coat or paint...wheel your just **** out of luck. To each his own I guess...

This is a tough call, but as your new Moderator I'm gonna have to make some tough calls from time to time.

There's some good info here on a product that allows someone to "play around" or experiment with paint mods, but its getting a bit too personal.

So I'm leaving it up, but closing it to further posts.
