07 HHR 2.2 swap exhaust question
So I picked up an 07 HHR. Found out today that the 2.0 that's in it is not a factory option. No big deal as I've seen the 2.0 has a better potential than the factory 2.2 anyway. But the exhaust has a huge break in it. I could sleeve it but I'd rather try to replace it with an affordable aftermarket chrome exhaust. What vehicle model would the 2.0 have come from for me to locate a bolt up system from the header all the way back? Over time I plan on investing time and money into customizing it and making it a long term show and performance toy. For now though I just wanna get the local cops to back off a bit lol.

Hi 203, to the forums!!
Check out this thread, post the engine VIN here, hopefully we'll be able to identify what engine you have. Then we can try to determine what exhaust system/components you'd need.

A) the VIN is on the dashboard and on your registration.
B) the 2.0 is a turbo-charged engine, should be easy to see a turbocharger.
C) there was no SS model in 2007, the model that comes with a 2.0.
D)why do you think you have a 2.0?

2007's only came with the 2.2 (149 hp) or 2.4 (172 hp). Would look similar to the picture below.
2008-2010 SS had the 2.0 turbocharged (260 hp ). Pictured below.

which is what sparked the need for this post. I'm aware that there was no 2.0 in the 07. But on the top of the engine the big 2.0L letters tells me that it is not the original engine for the car. I understand that I'm sure many morons end up posting uninformed stupid questions on these forums. But I'm not mechanically stupid, and have done some research before coming across the forum here. I will take pics of the motor and will locate the vin on the motor tomorrow.

Did someone say anyone was a moron or stupid?
A turbo charger is kind of hard to miss as is the huge intercooler and different bumper to accommodate it. Decals are cheap. Lots of folk have bought an HHR SS that turned out to be just a decal.
The partial VIN that may be on the motor is for the Vehicle not the motor.
Maybe there is the remains of a paper "broadcast label" on one end of the head that could lend info. Basically it will tell if it is the factory engine.
