2006 HHR gages

All of a sudden my gas gauge, speedometer, tach, oil pressure stopped working. All the light functions (mileage, temp., travel, oilchange) are working. Only the dial gauges are not working. Can anyone help, or give me a clue?

p.s. I noticed in the owners manual they spelled it wrong (gages)

Google seems to say "gage" can be correct, depending on which dictionary you look at.

If you take the meaning as "challenge" a setting it is correct in all of them. To mete a gage.

I would also try disconnecting the battery for a few min. When you reconnect the battery it will reboot the modules.

And be sure you disconnect the NEGATIVE cable, can't stress that enough.

Disconnecting the Positive cable risks damaging electrical components and computer modules throughout the vehicle.

I believe the naming of the instruments was an issue when these, as well as many other vehicles, were first introduced. I remember a previous discussion on this forum.

My very large Funk and Wagnells Collegiate Dictionary states the spelling, "gauges" is old English and the spelling, "gages" is new and the accepted method in America as a noun for an instrument of measure. Both however, are acceptable.

SIDE NOTE: I remember many years ago, I had written a report with a word spelled, "moulding". I was criticized by a superior for the incorrect spelling. Funny thing was, were were sitting in front of a store that had that very spelling in their name. These 2 spelling are also accepted, again one old English one new.

American spelling language is a tricky discipline to master.

My 2007 when it was about six or eight months old had all the gauges go bonkers. Dealer didn't seem surprised, ordered a new cluster and installed it. Haven't had a problem since. This was fortunately under warrantee at the time, I suspect GM gets many $$'s for that cluster. Hope yours is simple to fix.
