They call it "professional " but yeah, it's no bueno. The 131-158 is the only good one.

So we're going to forget about the overboosting, and loss of coolant, and the plugged up radiator?

You did say you installed an AC Delco 131-158 180 degree thermostat, but could you confirm the coolant, you said 50/50, Dexcool? Or that green stuff!
yes that is the t stat i installed. As for the coolant im just using the cheap stuff tell im able to find out whats wrong with the car. Once i fix it i plan to do a complete drain and flush of the whole cooling system. Im retired and on a fixed income. Money is really tight for us.

Buy just one jug of straight DexCool and a $1 gallon of distilled water and save about $18.

In my case, for my specific car, the water pump was the culprit (YMMV). The water pump only leaked while under power. You turn the engine off and it doesn't leak. Never any puddles under the car, even sitting overnight. The Chevy service manager said this is a common problem with this specific engine on higher mileage cars (mine has 126K miles).

Changing the water pump myself is a project I have no interest in pursuing. My car is at the local Chevy dealer right now for cooling system flush, new thermostat, new water pump, etc. I will need to rob a bank to pay for the dealer to do this work. I envy those of you who have more mechanical skills than I have.

That is because the genius designer put the weep hole on the top in a pocket.

Hmm, airfare and accommodations for me to fly out would have been cheaper!
