2006 2.2 5 speed manual. Brand new clutch, very hard shifting, one week and I had to investigate! Found the plastic shaft that holds the actuator had backed out a bit, pushed back, all is working. Only problem, it is broken, won't stay in place too long, is not available through GM. I'm looking for a short through shifter, when I install it, I'll come up with a fix I hope!
I thought I had already posted this, sorry can't find it! 2006 LS 2.2 5 speed shifter issue. Pivot shaft on shifter is loose, and keeps backing out causing hard shifting, lubed up, still have an issue with the shaft moving in and out. Pivot shaft on the white plastic piece that extends out to the left to move cables is shot, looking for ideas on fixing it. called local GM dealer, discontinued. It is the plastic shaft that allows the cable actuator to be straight and aligned to move the cables. It is in a steel housing, horizontal plastic bushing, pin, shaft, whatever you may call it. I'm thinking of putting a collared bolt and nylon aircraft lock nut, but access is not that great w/o removing the entire console. Has anyone had this problem, and have a fix before I modify, I'd prefer to keep it stock, unless anyone can suggest a better idea for a fix. I'll even consider an aftermarket shifter assy if anyone can recommend a good one! I can post pics but I'd need to disassemble again to get them.
Shifter Assembly - upgraded 2009 SS part (including shift handle and shifting mechanism and retrofittable to 2006 LT/LS etc - see install guides in How-to Section) - GM P/N: 25860318 (rumoured to be replaced with a newer P/N such as 25995461, so check with dealer or GM parts supplier first)
