Hi donbrew,

I finally received the codes back from my mechanic on the passenger side air bag. They were: B0081, B1325, B1370, and B1000.

I am going to try the yellow connector and dielectric grease, but any other clues on things to try given these codes? Thanks!!

Who has been messing with the airbag module? Either the fuse is blown or some wire around the airbag "brain" is damaged.

Any work done around the gear shifter, under the console?

In other words: what is the rest of the story?

The 2 digits after the code B0081 would be very helpful. Could be somebody installed the wrong passenger sensor or a power failure.

If the light is not on there will be no codes, they don't get stored.

Not sure if I screwed the pooch, but had no error light, just removed the seats for a carpet shampoo. I didn't unhook the battery/fuse.
I left the pass front seat out and just moved the car down the drive way a bit and of course got the light.
Put the seat back in, no light. Kinda happy. But for grins an giggles, hooked the scanner up and have a B0081-71 code. I need to get an inspection (NC) next day or two.
Am I possibly screwed having that B0081-71 code? Can I do the battery trrick now?

TIA

If you disconnect the battery now, your emissions monitors will not be ready, all the tests will have to run again. Is it an emissions inspection?

Thanks!
Emissions and safety.
But had I disconnected the battery, beforehand, the monitors would still be not ready, no?

(I saw somewhere 100 malfunction free starts might clear it?)

That's correct, disconnecting the battery clears codes. Moral of the story is, don't do it right before emissions testing.

Donbrew may know how to get that code to clear.

Thanks! I do tend to jump head first into things. . How long/miles does it take to 'reset' the emission monitors? (inquiring minds want to know)
I might just to the battery thing and cross my fingers. Could just claim I just replaced the battery.
I'll wait a bit to see if Mr. Donbrew has any tricks.

No tricks. It can take 20 cold starts to finally get the EVAP testing done, they need a very particular set of circumstances including a 12 hour sit and more than half a tank less than full and no refill activity. A decent OBD reader will tell I/M readiness. Some states will let you skate on 1 or 2 not readies, check with you inspector.

The B0081 71 won't affect the emissions test just the safety, but won't go away until the passenger presence system gets fixed.

All I did was unplug it. Drive 3 feet. Re-plugged it. Is it 'broken'? If so, how could that have happened?

Could have bent the pins in the connector or pushed the pin out of the connector.

I recommend inspecting the connections, not what this guy did!

and use wire stripper tool not your teeth!
