Another remote question....

recently, I left the key on and ran down the battery Ever since then, my remote does not work! I pulled it apart and tried a new battery but no help. I had to deal with the crappy solder joints in the remote about 6 months ago, so I know this is not the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am clueless!

I would say that when your battery went dead the car lost the programing for the remote. unfortantly you have to go to dealer for reprograming the system

So, if you even change the battery you have to have it reprogrammed?

The system is supposed to keep the program in memory but sometimes when the battery go's dead over time the very low voltage will somtime confuse the modules and it looses the memory. just changing the battery and not leaving it unhooked too long should keep the memory stored.

Oh, ok, thanks... I might need a new battery when I get the car out of storage, so I just wondered. It's not dead, but it's not wanting to hold a charge either...

Sorry for the thread jacking, back to the OP.

I pulled up a thread in the general HHR on remotes and there is a procedure in there that is worth a try. My dealer told me only the dealer can program them but when I bought one from a locksmith they programmed it to my 2006. In case you hadn't noticed, dealers are in business to make money and they won't make money if you program your own.
