DIC - Remote Start Question

I'm new to the 2006 Chevy HHR and forum (traded from a 2005 Chevy Equinox). What is a DIC? My remote and computer say I have the remote start, but I can't get it to work. The used car dealer I bought the car from couldn't figure it out either. I don't feel like wasting time and money at a dealer's if it's something simple I'm missing. Thanks.

First, Welcome to the forum!

The DIC is "driver information center" It's where the odometer is.... If you push the "info" button on the steering wheel the display will show other things, Trip meter/Mile per gallon/etc. Your owners manual will show you how to get into a higher state of options on the DIC. (I believe it's different for different yeras) If you don't have a manual they are available online for free.

to the forum GrammyH!

Here's a link to the thread containing the online owners manuals, just click on the link and then click on your model year to get the manual in PDF form.

Look at the RPO label inside the glove box. If you have AP3 option you have remote start.

To use the remote start:

1. Press and release the lock button

2. Immediately press and hold the start button for roughly 4 sec.

The vehicle will run for 10 minutes and then automatically shut off unless you do an ignition cycle (insert the key and turn it to the on position) before that time passes. You can only do two remote starts without doing an ignition key cycle. Someone correct me if any of that is wrong or if I left something out because I'm home and the owners manual is with the HHR and my wife a her work.

db/sb,
If you are home and the wife is working I would say you are correct.

Dear GrammyH,

ChvyMgr is correct about looking for the RPO code within your glove box.

If you would like I can look up your build sheet. I would need your VIN (vehicle identification number) of your HHR in order to do this. This would allow me to view the specific options and features that you have on your 2006 HHR.

If you choose to have me look up your build sheet for you, please feel free to send me the VIN number through the private messaging system that is on this forum. I realize that some people hold their personal information very high and feel uncomfortable just posting it on the thread.

Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service
