Is there a difference between flashing a trans and reprogramming a trans? The dealer
was suppose to reprogram my trans. It is shifting at different RPMs now and getting about 7 mpg better mileage.

I took it to AZ for a battery check and they determined the battery, starter and alt, were working and in good order. I put the SUV in the garage last night and it started just fine, temp about 40 degrees.

Any suggestions?
There have been many times that AZ(or whoever) told people that their battery was "fine", when it was not. If it doesn't start, then you jumpstart it, and it does start... and extreme cold... I'm thinkin' battery.

And like Whopper asked - does it crank or not? I'm guessing it cranks, but slowly?

car won't start when cold outside

btw - NO, it wouldn't even crank. All the dash, and dome lights came on but it didn't crank. But started up with a jump and by itself. It's a beautiful 42 right now and it started right up.

Any ideas why?

Now we get the whole story. Throw a voltmeter on the vehicle and check the voltage before and after trying to start it. How old is the battery?

Just get a new battery.

If you could find someone to give the battery a comprehensive test, and give you a printout of the results, that would help us know if the battery is or isn't the culprit.

The printout from the test should show the currently (no pun intended) available capacity in Cold Cranking Amps. Compare that to the rated amount labelled on the battery.

I give up - I'm out. Obviously you don't even bother to read the posts from those trying to help you.

RJ - wanna close this as it just is not getting anywhere?
