bluetooth sound quality

Anyone having issues with the quality of sound when using Bluetooth/phone with their HHR? I have a 2009 SS with the Bluetooth built in.

It does not matter which type of phone I use (Samsung, Motorola, LG) the sound is poor quality for the person listening on the other end of the conversation. It is bad when the car is in motion. Sometimes I just pull over and talk.

If I cannot resolve it, I am thinking of getting an aftermarket Bluetooth device that attaches to the visor, and using that instead. It is what I have on another car and has better quality sound.

Could be the old 2009 Bluetooth tech compared to your newer phones, or it has started go south

The microphone in the overhead may be going bad. I wouldn't blame it on the entire Bluetooth system since it seems to be working.

Fwiw. Very rarely use mine with the phone, but some have commented that I sound like I'm in a tin can when they talk to me through the Bluetooth on my 2010.

My 09 SS works fine and I get calls on it frequently. Im using a Samsung Note 4. I would say its something up with your specific system.

I would go with the microphone being damaged or obscured or otherwise malfunctioning.

Where specifically is the microphone located?

Thanks.

I'm not sure, maybe in the mirror?

Mitchell says; with sunroof it's in the sunroof switches, without it's that hole in the headliner near the mirror. That is assuming that it uses the same mic that OnStar uses.

Thanks. I see that the microphone is next to the sunroof switches. Perhaps that is the issue. I'd like to know if anyone else has an HHR with a sunroof and has issues with Bluetooth sound quality at the receiver's end.

Hey canroc,

I know you're reaching out to the forum, but we may be able to address the poor outgoing Bluetooth sound quality issue at your local Chevrolet dealership. If you're interested in this option, shoot me a PM and we can discuss this further!
