I never heard of an HHR with 15 inch wheels from the factory! Must be a one off.

Apparently, there are two master cylinder kits. One for factory 15 inch wheels and one for factory 16 inch wheels. Well, my daughter's car has after market 16 inch wheels, but came with factory 15 inch wheels. This apparently is where the confusion came in when they ordered the master cylinder. Apparently, the push rod on the 16 inch wheel version is about 3/4 of an inch longer than the 15 inch version. This was causing the brakes to be applied before the driver even pushed on the pedal. After ordering and replacing the correct master cylinder, the issue is no longer happening.

I hope this thread saves at least one other person the headache and money I went through!!!!
No sucha thing as an HHR w/ 15” wheels. Parts house confuse HHR and Cobalt all the time. Base Cobalts had 4-lug wheels. Maybe that’s what used the other MC.

read the thread , he gives the resolution to his issue, I don’t see how this was the problem from when just there rear brakes were replaced, then the master cylinder was replaced later on. And I know the HHR never had 15” rims. So, my theory is the parts books were wrong at that shops supplier. I’m pretty sure the master cylinder doesn’t come with the push rod that connects to the brake pedal

This photo is from the CarID website , the booster would be in between the master cylinder and the push rod

If you would like our help the best way is to start a new thread with YOUR specifics, "same as yours" is very rarely accurate.

Pretty obvious from the OP that the OP simply got hosed by an incompetent pirate shop.

And as for the statement the same only mine has ABS

you may need to have the brakes bleed with a scan tool to bleed the ABS .
