broken garment hook
fixed my own problem
Just in case anyone else has rotten kids that like to push buttons.....
1. there is a little trap door that hides a tox bolt to remove the hanger. I used a little paper clip with a hook at one end to pull it down.
After removal i noticed a little metal "U" shaped hook on the back of the hanger. It is held in place with a little black clip. Well, the hook was leaning over to one side. It should fit straight down into a little hole at one end, and the other end rides in a groove inside the hanger to lock it in the up position. I needed to shine a flashlight in the hole to see how it works, but the key was the little metal u shaped part leaning over. Works as new now......
Hope this helps someone

Mine is doing the same thing and I have never had any kids or anyone else screwing with it (and the vehicle was bought new and is just 6 months old).
Just seems like something else that is not very well built on these cars...
I will take your advice to see if I can get mine working.
