Holy old thread revival......

When the poorly designed bracket broke, earlier the whole sunroof tray assembly had to be replaced.

Finally, GM got "semi-smart" and now you can just get the bracket itself. Install is involved, though.

The part for the left bracket on the wind deflector is about $5; repair cost about $200! (It's riveted in not screwed!)

I suppose I should get the part anyway but I've been driving for 3 years now only able to tilt the sunroof and not open it horizontally and I've survived. Would be nice though!

So you drill out the rivet heads & punch them out & re-rivet the new parts..

Actually it sounds like the dealer is giving you a fair repair price. When mine went to the dealer, I believe, it was quoted $350 in labor ($14 for the parts). I had some time, so I did it myself. It does require removing and reinstalling the headliner.

If you do a search, you may find the thread that illustrates the step by step process.

Oh, just noticed you indicated the roof TRACKS...mine was the windscreen track. Still need to drop the headliner (big job) though.

The sunroof frame (#25967123) is $318.There is stock at several GM parts warehouses around the country as of 8-23-11 if you still need the part.

Thumbs up Benevento

Went the inexpensive route on fixing the broken deflector in my '06, & I am happier with this than the original deflector. Quieter, MUCH quieter, & installation was quick & simple!

If it is the bracket that the wind barrier attaches to, they don't make it. They have to fabricate it, of which the directions are on this website!
