Nothing in writing. You paid a deductible, not a portion of the cost (small legal distinction). I always shop around and get my deductible waived at some shop in the neighborhood, I get a new windshield almost every year.

If you are not concerned about the damage caused to the vehicle, I don't really understand your problem.

The lesson is "get it in writing". In my state any auto repair shop is required to produce a written estimate that must be signed prior to work commencing, I always thought that was just a PIA, maybe it would have helped you though. Maybe the insurance company signed off on it.

I guess I've just been through the ringer too many times.

Picked up the car this morning from the Chevy dealer. Gouges are repaired and painted; new PGW windshield was installed. The fit at the top of the glass with the body is somewhat better. Nearly $1500 in cost, paid for by Belle Tire.

The work order was set up between Belle Tire and the insurance company. The insurance company stated that they don’t specify type of glass with such a work order. Belle Tire had a verbal contract with me that they fulfilled after plenty of arm twisting, but yes I would recommend specifying brand of glass in writing.
