How long before the HHRs get a recall for it? If its the same platform, same and similar parts, wouldn't the same problem require the same recall?

Front end clunk too

I have 2007 2LT and it also has front end clunk that only started after chevy replaced transmission at 25,000 miles. They forgot to tighten the sub frame into the car and it sounded as if the engine was going to fall out of the car, come to find out it really was. I am seeing a trend on 07's clunking

I dropped off my HHR at the dealer today, so we'll see what they come up with. Thankfully this dealer really is decent. So far I have nothing but good things to say about them (Integrity Auto, Chattanooga, TN).

on my 09 LT2 I had a clunk that was the result of a bad intermediate shaft and steering column.

Just got a call from the dealer and they are saying the rack and pinion is bad, the right strut bearing is bad, the intermediate shaft is bad, and the catalytic converter is coming apart on the inside. The insurance replace the rack and strut when my wife hit a curb a few months ago, so I'm taking the whole thing back up with the shop who did the work. The dealer says the converter is covered under an extended emissions warranty, but claims that the intermediate shaft is not covered under the powertrain warranty.
