Changing Cam sensors T/C engine light on
Changing Cam sensors T/C engine light on
Hi to all, I am new here and I think this is my first posting. I had the T/C and engine light on. So I changed both IN/EX cam sensors( talked the dealer down to $96 and change for both with tax ). I used this link to help me https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/camshaft-position-actuator-solenoid-valve-replacement-w-pics-p0010-11-p0013-14-a-28779/ . I first removed the neg side of the battery to reset the computer while doing the work and found that when you do this you do not have to remove the MAP sensor. Just remove the intake plumbing and lay the air box off to the side without taking the MAP sensor out. And also in that write up it doesnt tell you how to remove the wire to the sensors. First you remove the grey stop clip by using a blade screw driver and prying lightly upward and removing it then depressing the black lock clip in and pulling straight up on the wire. I hope this is the fix for this problem and by the way my code was P0011 and it took me about 15 min max to fix. I have a 2006 with 90,000 miles on it and drive over 105 mile a day to work and back. Other than this and stablizer links nothing has needed to be replaced on this car and I have had it since it had 14,000 miles on it. Dain

Glad it worked out for you. You got a great price on the solenoids!!!!
But, I think you missed step 7 tho: "7) Remove the connectors at the top of the solenoids (remove them both to prevent accidents) by pulling up on the grey clip until you can work a small screw driver between it and the black lock and remove the grey clip - now you can depress the black lock mechanism to free the connector from the top of the solenoid."
Keep us posted, if you get a chance, on the success of the fix after you get a few more miles on it to ensure the problem is gone.
Have fun
cheers

On our 06, HHR we had a similar issue with the T/C and CEL coming on and then we would get the hard shifting...
Changed the two cam sensors, bought from the dealer for under $100.00 with taxes, etc...
Totally cured the issue. Has not returned in several weeks.
So far, so good!!!!
Now we have the intermittent starting issue when it gets a little bit hot...
It's always something... LOL!!!
Still luv'n our little purple sweetie!!!!!
