I did the reset this afternoon and it seems to have fixed it. I will drive it for a few days and let you know if the problem persists. Thanks everyone for the advice!

I was driving last night and it started acting up again. I had the defrost on and all the sudden air started coming out of the front dash and the selector knob was unresponsive.

Since the reset seemed to go through all the vents I think the motors might all be ok. Maybe it's an issue with the climate control panel?

I also just changed the cabin air filter right after I bought the car. Is there anything I could have messed up while replacing that?

Only if you didn't put the filter in the slot or stuck something in the hole.
The control panel is very easy to replace. stick your fingers in the vents and yank to remove the "waterfall" then 2 screws and the electrical connector.

Thanks! I'll try pulling the control panel and see if I can find anything wrong with it.

It sounds like the control module is having issues. Need a factory level scan tool to see what is going on.

Thanks! I can pull one from the junkyard and give it a try. Do you know if they have to be programmed to the vehicle?

HVAC fuse

Turn the system on full cold Max AC.

Pull the HVAC (AC) fuse from interior fuse box. Leave out for 1 minute and replace.
Turn key to run/on position....NOT start.
Do not touch any controls. You'll hear the doors (actuators) being opened and closed. The HVAC module is learning the full open and full close positions. Wait until the system is completely done with the learning process. Less than a minute.
Start and test the system.
I have this same issue and I fallowed these instructions but on my HHR there are two fuses that are hvac , one says HVAC/IP IGN and the other says HAVC/PK3+
which is which?
I actually pulled each fuse separately at a time, but I got no change vents still blowing from dash only not going to different vents
