Could be the slave cylinder or the clutch return spring broke.

The firewall may have broken and now the clutch Master cylinder is no longer attached.

Very plausible, Donbrew.

What year and model designation are we dealing with? An SS or an LS?

to the forums!

Probably the clutch pedal return spring has broken. Have a look down by the pedal. Unfortunately they are no longer available, check with your local parts recycler (wrecking yard).
