Give the search tool at the top of the page a try - just enter "P0016" without the quotes.

The answer may be there - be aware that you may be looking at other issues than a sensor - the timing chain might have jumped and caused some major damage. You will find reference to that kind of problem in the search results.

PS: post moved to a separate thread in the Problems section

Welcome to the site Here is a diagram of the crank sensor location.

Wopper may be correct you may have something other than just replace the crank sensor.

Hey Guys, Took the car in after replacing both sensors and doing the relearn procedure several times with no luck. They tell me it is the tensioners on the timing chain. AT 65K you would not think that would be the case. Car has had oil changes religiously. Said somthing about the seals leaking on the tensioner . Somehow it uses oil pressure to keep tension. Whatever the case looks like about a 2000 dollar job at the dealer. Contacted Chevrolet about a repair assist program since I am only 11 months out of the power train warranty but still in by mileage. We shall see what happens..Thanks to whopper , Lucky , and Donbrew for all the help. Will let yall know how it turns out and if the HHR goes up for sale..LOL

There is a updated timing tensioner for our engines and yes they use oil psi to maintain correct tension for the timing chain.

Hopefully they will be able to help you out with the repairs.
