Cooling Fan

I own a 2009 HHR LT and after driving less than 4 miles, when I shut the car off the fan stays on, the temperature gauge doesn't reflect the car is running hot. Is anyone else having the same problem?

to the forum ltishea!

While the gauge isn't reflecting an overheating situation, you might still be running too hot, check your coolant level at the recovery tank behind the radiator. If the coolant is at the proper level, then it may be a bad temperature sensor sending a false signal to the ECM causing it to keep the fan engaged in "cool down mode" when in fact the coolant temp is within the normal range.

What sort of engine temperature reading are you getting on the DIC, and does it give with the reading presented on the gauge. Low coolant levels, or a stuck thermostat can cause the gauge and DIC display to incorrectly reflect the actual engine temperature.

Welcome to the forum. How are things going with the vehicle? Were you able to check the things 843de suggested?
