This morning when I got off work I got in my car, turn the key, heard the electronic noise from midway back on the drivers side, thinking it was the sound of the car trying to engage the starter, but other than that, nothing. Did this about 8 times, contacted onstar to try to get roadside assistance...got off the phone with them, and tried to crank again, and it started right up. Hoping it was a one-time issue, but something tells me that's not going to be the case...

Any ideas? 2009 HHR SS auto, 544 miles at the time.

I forgot to mention that the battery was fine, all lights came on as usual inside and the auto headlights came on...there was no dimming of anything when I tired to crank it.

 

You did let go of the ignition key after it made contact, right? It is not necessary to hold the key in the start position......
