hard cranking after gassing up
This only happens after refueling. Takes a.good three or four cranks to start.
Evap or fuel pump? Anyone experience this and is it covered under 100k. Don't really bave the coin to fix this on my own. Car has 81k odo. Would like to think a fuel pump would laat longer than this. My buddies 'balt had a similar problem and he got a recall. Lucky bastards.

One thing you could try is to remove and reinstall the filler cap (without refueling). If the problem occurs, then it is probably the venting of the internal pressure in the tank that is causing it. If the fuel pump is weak, it may be counting on pressure in the tank to help during starting.
If it starts OK after the test, it's probably related to adding fuel to the tank, like the evap system malfunctioning.
This may be a long shot but its the only test I could think of offhand.

I'm not sure what a non-malfunctioning HHR would do if the cap were removed while the engine is running, maybe a slight flutter is normal in that situation? Maybe I'll try that with mine.
