No Cruise, not shifting to "I"

Have the shifter cable paths been checked? There are 3 pcs. to the cable assembly. A broken cable "hold down" clip will not allow the transmissions' manual valve to fully activate the Valve Body pressure switch manifold. It may have problems getting into Park, as we have discussed before.

Thanks for your help everyone...

Let me re-state the problems:

1. Cruise control will not engage.

2.Shifter arm can move into all positions freely, there is no binding. But, the car will not downshift, as it always has, when dropped into "I".

3. Auto door locks not working.

4.Third bake light works...but not the 2 rear side lamps.(Replaced new today.)

5.Clicking sound, not heard before, from shifter arm.

OK...let me bump this thread with THIS little tidbit.

Waiting to take it in to be looked at on Monday and...

The car is back to running fine.

Cruise works.
Brake lights work.
Auto locks work.
Car downshifts when moved into 'I'.
No more clunking sound from the auto-trans shifter.

Now let me ask...what is it that could be intermittent ??? ...

I'm gonna stick with my shifter cable theory. It needs to be tied down properly to get the full range of movement. It may have snagged the old or broken cable clip and is "back" in adjustment.

I'm guessing this is somehow tied into the brake light swith.

I tried a search but came up empty-handed. Any help would really be appreciated.

My problem solved I belive it was a sticking silonide, I was trying to find the clicking sound and was engauging my shifter button , and unlocking door lock with the button sevral times back and forth and when I turned the ignition off the door unlocked, now all works, no more loud clicking sound when appling brakes ,cruise works, auto doors normal. And now I can mannualy shift I and low. Go figure.:
