I also have an 06 LT and just double checked to see and it appears I too have that gear icon

I was curious so I looked at instrument clusters on ebay and many that are for 06 also have the gear while ones for 07 and later did not. Perhaps it was just a production run thing? It shows it in the owners manual too. Maybe it's also for when you're in low gear?

Lol, yeah, I wonder how to “aim” it too. They need a diagram. But 99% of users facing their car would have it “aimed” the same way, I betcha.

It is likely that there is some directionality to the internal antenna, though, by design, one would hope.

All antennas have a polarity and that just means if it's not in the correct orientation the signal strength will be weaker. So when they say "aim" they assume you are going to reach out your arm meaning better chance of reception because it will be closer. The reality is it is a omnidirectional antenna so there is no true aiming but if you hold the remote towards your body/head the signal gain is increased thus the range is increased. It actually works! Check out some YouTube videos on it!
