Cylinder 3 misfires

Cylinder 3 misfires
All of a sudden I am getting a check engine light on my 2007 Chevy HHR. It indicates that I am getting cylinder 3 misfires. It now has over 51,000 miles on it but has been running well. I took it to a very good mechanic who hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and it showed over 1,000 misfires. He took the spark plugs and coil packs of cylinder 3 and switched it with cylinder 2 and still got misfires. Also, I got another crazy light to come up out of the blue. It said traction needed serviced and then disabled it. Can anyone give me a clue as to why I am getting these all of a sudden like this?

Re: misfires - did the misfire move to Cyl #2, or stay with Cyl #3? If it stayed, I'd suspect a fuel injector. It then might be cleanable, or may need replacing. If it moved to Cyl #2 then I'd suspect the plug or coil pack.
The traction control service: if it is still disabled, I'd suggest taking it to your local Chevy dealer as being a 2007 it should be under warranty still (?). Maybe it is caused by the misfire issue?
Anyone else have any ideas on this?
