Dash Mirror Map lights switch
Dash Mirror Map lights switch
Hey everyone, my 2006 HHR LT came with supposedly faulty map lights, the ones underside of the dash mirror. The lights switch on but to turn it off, you have to like hold it half way (the switch seems loose and doesn't turn the lights off even after it clicks in) to have the light turned off. And then when you push it all the way in, it turns back on. How do these lights work, is there a setting in the tachometer display that you can adjust or is this just a faulty switch? (if so how do I dismantle it)The thing drains the battery so I just disconnected the electrical clip.

Seems a faulty switch is the problem, which mirror do you have? Just the 2 map lights? A small 3 or 4 pin connector or the OnStar mirror with a 16 pin connector?
perhaps it’s a good time to upgrade to auto dimming and compass mirror

2006 HHR Map Light connection Pinout
Hey, I wanted to know what each of the 3 or 4 wires in the small connector that goes to the mirror map lights do.
I have the push button switch type, without onstar.

Dash Mirror Lights Operation
Hey guys, I managed to get my map lights switch to work, but now they only come on and respond to the switch when a door is open. Is this how it's supposed to function or is there a way to get them to turn on with the switch even when the car is running on the road (with the doors closed)?
