Map lights not working

My 2006 2LT with sunroof and rear view mirror with compass and onstar ect has map lights in the bottom of the mirror assembly. The map lights function as they should when doors are opened and closed, but if I try to turn them on manually by pushing the button switch on the bottom of the mirror they no longer function. In the past you would push the button switch to activate and shut off the map lights, now neither the driver or passenger side map light will operate manually. The switch in the rear seat for the interior lighting is set to the proper position and the dimming light for interior lights on a 2006 has no affect on the map lights. I've read all related posts and am out of ideas, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you try a contact cleaner spray into the switches? Just a little squirt.

Not in a Honda Ridgeline.
Around this site , we are ChevyHHR owners.

Perhaps you try the Honda forum

Honda Ridgeline
Kia Picanto (per his bio)
Buick Enclave (in his other post)

Yep. Not really sure why he's decided to drop into a forum for the HHR. Needs to find the right website for whatever car he's dealing with.

Maybe you are helpful Oldblue, but remember that recent post in another thread.
Some of us are just some "grumpy old guys".
