Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
I have a 2008 2.2 non-vvt, has fault P0016, was told timing chain bad, replace timing chain set, still has fault. Then told need to change camshaft, replaced and still fault. Then changed cam and crank sensors and still has fault. Engine runs OK but maybe a little low on power. Any ideas what the problem could be?
You probably should pull the valve cover and timing cover and recheck the timing. If you didn't know, you need to release the tensioner before you button it up. The chain may have slipped a tooth or more.
How poorly was it running before you changed the timing set?

I have already done that and it is timed and tight. The problem started one day when i went to start it and it started and died, then didn't want to start. Finally started and ran bad. The chain was loose and had jumped.
With the 2007 non VVT , I’ve had that P0016, it was the timing chain off one tooth. It’s kinda hard to assemble the cam gears and marks and look at the crankshaft gear marks.
Of course my OCD and how I’m positive it’s right cause I just lined it up.
