Angry Flex pipe repair failed

I have a 2007 with the 2.4 engine.. My flex pipe went at 182K. I had it replaced at a local shop and after 10 days it is leaking again. I took it back and the mesh is leaking. I was told no warranty on the part and I would need the whole pipe including cat, $350. Has any one else had this happen so soon after replacing just the flex?

I would suggest checking your motor and trans. mounts. If they're weak or broken, too much movement on the new flexpipe could have caused it to fail.

At your mileage, bad mounts would be a good possibility.

I agree with firemangeorge check the motor mounts.

I would also wonder about the quality of the parts installed.

I have seen complete convertors online from 150.00 to 260.00.

Update: poor quality work on repair. I went to another shop this past Friday. They said the welds were bad and the flex pipe was now damaged. Installed new flex pipe and corrected welds. All mounts are good. Only $135 to fix it right.

take the bill back to the original repair shop, and get your money back!
I replaced the whole pipe $168.00 3/4 hour in the garage on jack stands!
I did not want to weld the piece in few just a few dollars savings

Both posts are good advice except that you'll generally have a problem with any kind of warranty if you have the 'bad' job repaired elsewhere without first giving the original shop the opportunity to make good on their work.
