Front Rotors Needed To Be Cut at 6000 miles
I have a LS base model, 2.2L eng., auto trans, with full moon hubcap. [that they tell me will make my brakes run hot]? 27,000+ miles, no noise, no shake,
I rotate tires at 3000 with a 1/2" drive air gun, Pads are still better then
50% never turned rotors. I don't even turn rotors if & when I install new pads. I drive fast, brake late, Of all my GM cars/trucks never any noise or shake. Just very lucky I guess !

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience with their HHR. Hope this won't be happening on the regular. Any suggestions if it does happen again?
Hi, I'm now around 20,000 thousand mile on my HHR (2006). Having to have my rotors resurfaced/cut for the third time. I tried to get the service manager to just give me new rotors but he said that GM would not approve it. I think I just happened to have a bad set of rotors from the start. Any suggestions on what I should do? I'm sure I will need them resurfaced again in 6000 thousand mile. They will still be under warrenty, but it's just a hassle. Any thoughts?

Mating machined surfaces need to be cleaned very well, according to what I was told by GM Engineering. This assures the surfaces match exactly as intended.....the photos in the above link will demonstrate this. Most of the dealers are NOT performing this service step when servicing the brakes. You may wish to pull a wheel and see what the appearance demonstrates. DON"T FORGET TO RETORQUE THE WHEELS TO THE 100 FT/# as recommended by GM. Anything less or more causes additional problems.
Oh, and forgot to say...tire services center, dealers and car owners are NOT doing this either, when they do TIRE ROTATIONS. It needs to be done WHENEVER a wheel is removed from the hub.
Good Luck.

I came down the front way (Rt.18 from Lake Arrowhead). I put the transmission in I and came down the hill with little or no braking or high revs.
